Biography

Alasdair McLean-Foreman is the founder and CEO of Teikametrics, the AI-powered retail media optimization platform serving brands on Amazon, Walmart, and TikTok Shop. Since founding the company in 2015, he has built Teikametrics into a category leader processing more than $10 billion in marketplace transactions, backed by approximately $65 million in venture capital from Jump Capital and Centana Growth Partners.

The flagship product, ARI (Artificial Retail Intelligence), is a patented platform spanning ARI Catalog, ARI Ads, ARI Insights, and ARI Inventory, giving brands the operating system to compete in an agentic-commerce world where machines increasingly mediate discovery and purchase.

Alasdair became one of Amazon's first third-party retailers in 2003, selling high-end sporting goods through HDO Sport, a company he founded from his Harvard dorm room. He later founded Traineo, a weight-loss and fitness platform, before launching Teikametrics to solve the profitability problem he had lived firsthand as an early marketplace seller.

Education and athletics

Alasdair earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University, where he was captain of the men's indoor track team and earned First-Team All-Ivy honors in track and field and cross country. He represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland internationally, competing in middle-distance events including the 800 metres, 1500 metres, and mile.

Media and speaking

Alasdair co-hosts the Human in the Loop podcast, exploring how AI is reshaping commerce, work, and decision-making. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences including ETail and writes on retail media, agentic commerce, and marketplace strategy. Read his latest posts on the Teikametrics blog.
